Janakpur Tour Package

Janakpur lies 392 kilometers east of the capital city, Kathmandu. This city is one of the great religious places, widely famous as the birthplace of Lord Sita. Similarly, it is one of the oldest cities, famous as Mithila in ancient civilization. Sita was then married to Lord Ram, the ruler of Mithila and the symbol of victory. Janakpur is a popular place for learning Hindu culture and Hindu philosophy. It is one of the religious sites popular among both Nepalese and Indian communities. As Janakpur is just 14 km from the Nepal-India border, it has been luring Indian pilgrims for a very long time. The Janakpur tour package is a popular tour package that attracts both Hindu and other world communities.

The Temple

Janakpur's most significant site is the Ram Janaki temple, the masterpiece by Queen Vrisha Bhanu of India in 1910 A.D. Furthermore, this temple is a must-see site for any architecture lover, as it is famous as the most crucial model of Koiri architecture in Nepal. The temple has an area of 4,860 sq. feet with 60 rooms and a three-story structure. Stones and marbles are the only prime materials that make this temple the site we see today. According to legends and epics, King Janak ruled this area (called Videha) during the Ramayana period. The temple construction started in 1895 and was completed in 1911. All the temple rooms are designed with colored glass, engravings, paintings, beautiful lattice windows, and turrets.

Population and Culture

The area has a large population of Maithilis, who have been predominant inhabitants from the past. Maithilis have their rich art, language, and script. Mithila art, an integral part of Mithila architecture, is quite popular in Nepal and India. Furthermore, Janakpur is successfully attracting more visitors with its beautiful holy pools. The Ram Janaki temple is widely famous as the Taj Mahal of India, one of the world's wonders.

Festivals and Accessibility

Thousands of pilgrims visit the temple at year-end, i.e., November/December, when the temple organizes Vivah Panchami to celebrate the marriage ceremony of Lord Ram and Sita. The Vivah Panchami is a marriage ceremony that continues for five days. Similarly, Janakpur is accessible via road and air as well. Janakpur accommodates its visitors with different quality accommodation centers ranging from small lodges to exclusive properties.

Recent Developments

The recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has amplified the religious importance of Janakpur, and it will dramatically increase the number of Indian guests in the coming years. Similarly, Janakpur is a place for Hindu tourists, but it can be equally appealing to all tourists who appreciate ancient architecture.
