International Buddhist Conference, Nepal

International Buddhist Conference, Nepal

The International Buddhist Conference, Nepal, has started in Kathmandu. Nepal is the birthplace of Lord Buddha. The conference's main objective is to commemorate the three significant events of Lord Buddha's life: his birth, his enlightenment, and the spreading of the messages of Buddhism—non-violence, brotherhood, co-existence, love, and peace.

Another key objective is to highlight Lumbini, Nepal, as the foundation of Buddhism on the international stage. Scholars from the international Buddhist community are also addressing the establishment of Lumbini as a center for interfaith and peace dialogues and developing it as a fountain for world peace.

The conference was formally opened by the Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. KP Sharma Oli, by lighting the Panas (lamp). Attendees include Buddhist scholars, parliament speakers, delegates, government personnel, media, professors, and students.

The conference reached a new level when Ani Choing Dolma appeared on stage with veteran Nepali musicians Nyoo Bajracharya, Raman Maharjan, and Gopal Rasaili. She performed her greatest hits, including "Phool Ko Aakhama."
