Helambu: 'Hyolmo' Language

Talking about tourism, Nepal is considered a prime choice for people from all over the globe. The blog "Helambu: Hyolmo Language" introduces you to the unique culture of Nepal. Nepal, a small landlocked country in beautiful South Asia, is truly a paradise on earth. There are several places where a person can hardly believe their eyes, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Nepali landscape.

Talking about the northern (snow-covered) part of the country, there lies a beautiful valley named "Helambu Valley," situated at an altitude ranging from 2400m to 3000m above sea level, in the northernmost part of Sindhupalchowk district. The valley is accessible by tourist trails that follow Langtang National Park.

"Helambu Valley" includes various small villages such as Timbu, Nakote, Shermathnag, Kutumsang, Tarkeghyang, and Melamchi Ghuang, all nestled under the glorious Mt. Dorje Lakhpa (6966m). Helambu is very famous for its red apples. The main inhabitants of this area are the "Hyolmo," an indigenous group of people similar to Sherpas. The actual meaning of the name "Helambu" is "Helabhu."

Since this place produces enormous quantities of potatoes and radishes, called "Helabhu," apart from the agricultural perspective, it is also famous for the rare Hyolmo civilization, culture, and art. The primary religion practiced by the people here also honors the ancient tradition of yak husbandry, adapted to the modern era. Helambu is the origin place of the 'Hyolmo' language, which is quite similar to the Sherpa language. Major attractions here include Ama Yangri, Dhugpu, and Milarepa Cave.

Many people in this area are engaged in agriculture. There are lodging and food facilities along the way and at the Helambu Valley destination. The evergreen coniferous forests and the snow-clad mountains are among the most attractive features of visiting this place. The panoramic view of the sky-touching Amayangri and Mt. Lakpa Dorje captivates every visitor. The ever-flowing crystal-clear river adds to the natural beauty.

After visiting Helambu, anyone will feel compelled to conclude, "Visiting Helambu quenched the thirst to love nature."
