Gastronomy Tourism in Nepal
✅ Food Tourism in Nepal
Nepal is a unique destination for travellers who wish to explore according to their interests. Nepal was historically important from ancient times, with tourism roots dating back to the Sumerian era. Nowadays, courageous entrepreneurs and innovators bring new tastes and products to the Nepali market. A group of entrepreneurs in Kathmandu is actively promoting gastronomy tourism in Nepal. They seek the best platforms to share their mission. Recently, they introduced their Gastronomy Tourism Nepal mission to a large audience while celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of Mt. Manaslu and Mt. Lhotse in Kathmandu.
✅ Nepali Cuisine
Nepali food is a globally typical cuisine but has yet to be promoted effectively due to Nepal's weaker global culinary presence. Last month, a campaign titled ‘Uniting Nepali Food from Himal to Terai’ was organized across various restaurants and hotels in Kathmandu. It aimed to raise awareness about Nepali food under the themes ‘A Campaign for Gastronomy Tourism in Nepal’ and ‘Let’s Talk About Nepali Food’.
Many individuals and organizations are involved in promoting this campaign globally. Among the famous faces of the program are Suresh Chandra Basnet, Vice President of the Chefs Association of Nepal, and Mahesh Raj Dhakal, Executive Chef at Shangri-La Hotel.
“The World Tourism Organization, in collaboration with the Georgian National Tourism Administration, is organizing the first UNWTO Conference of Wine Tourism in the Kakheti Wine Region of Georgia on 7-9 September 2016” (media.unwto.org).
Thus, Nepal has the potential to host such events in collaboration with different tourism organizations and government initiatives. Duke Nepal Adventure has strong expertise in conference tours in Nepal. Since the beginning, Duke Nepal has actively promoted gastronomy tourism and eagerly seeks to host potential events with active participation from UNWTO.
