Langtang Valley Trek

Langtang Valley Trek

After the devastating earthquake last year in Nepal, many tourist destinations were affected very badly. The same we saw in the Langtang region when we were trekking to Kanjin Gompa from Syaprubesi, Rasuwa, last week. Langtang Valley Trek is one of the best trekking routes for adventure lovers.

The old path along the Langtang Lirung riverside from the Syaprubesi has many landslides. The hotels and café are still closed, but the mesmerizing view of the forest, wild bees and frequently spotted wild animals such as the monkey, snow leopard, dear makes the first day of trekking very interesting.

The first overnight stay at Lama Hotel makes me feel that some places are still by the earthquake. The hospitality at Lama Hotel was amicable for me, and the heater inside the cosy dining area and Nepali Dal Bhat made me feel like a home away from home.  The people I met during the trek were also staying in the Lama Hotel. The crucial thing while trekking you needs to do is make a friend.

My Trekking Experience

I woke up in the morning and started hiking up from Lama Hotel. Our target was to reach Kanjin Gompa that day, but the hazy climate and the altitude made our walk very slow.  The boiling and Salty soup at the Tahangsyap, which is one hour more walk from Ghodatabela, was enough to fight the cold weather. We stayed overnight at Mundu that day.

We woke up in the morning and saw the excellent snow-capped mountain Gangcenpo, Langtang Lirung I, Langtang Lirung II and Kangala. After the quick breakfast at Mundu, we started walking towards Kangin Gompa. We reached Kangin Gompa at 11 O’clock.

From Kangin Gompa, someone can hike up to the Langtang Base Camp, which is 5000m high from the sea level and the Kangin Ri, which is 4773m high.

Duke Nepal Adventure highly recommends seeing the Langtang valley and the mountain you see there.
