Manakamana-Destination For All
Manakamana Temple is one of the sacred destination for Hindus and one of the adventurous destinations too which lies at altitude of 1302m from the sea level. One can overlook the river valleys of Trisuli in the south and Marsyangdi in the west. This friendly and popular destination is 12km south of the town Gorkha & 105 Km drive from Kathmandu.
Manakamana Temple is the temple of goddess Bhagwati, incarnation of Parvati. People visit this temple once in a lifetime as they believe that goddess grants wishes who visit this temple.

There is a tradition of sacrificing animals at the temple. Some pilgrims sacrifice goats or pigeons in a pavilion behind the temple. However, recently the District Livestock Service Office, Gorkha has banned the sacrifice of birds such as pigeons, roosters, and ducks to name a few. Similarly, Senior livestock service officer Chhetra Bahadur K.C. said poultry sacrifice would not be permitted until further notice.
One can reach at the hill via Austrian made cable car which is 2.8 km long(10 min) from kurintar. The cable car usually operates during the daytime from 9 am to 5 pm and stops during lunch break.
